The words of Lao Tzu (600BC)

”Would you like to save the world from the degradation and destruction it seems destined for?
Then step away from shallow mass movements and quietly go to work on your own self-awareness. If you want to awaken all of humanity, then awaken all of yourself. If you want to eliminate the suffering in the world, then eliminate all that is dark and negative in yourself. Truly, the greatest gift you have to give is that of your own self-transformation.” —Lao Tzu

It is hard to believe that these words were spoken over 2600 years ago. They sound straight from a modern day self help book, don't they? This goes to show that human nature has not changed that much, even though our external world has changed tremendously, our internal world is still pretty much the same. We are still working on developing self-awareness and trying to overcome the negativity within. Self-transformation is still a sought-after topic.

What does our internal world look like? What kind of landscape could it be compared to? I would compare it to a field full of plants, longing for the nurturing rays of the sun. We are all familiar with the facts that the leaves of a plant, left on the window sill, will turn toward the source of light.
As plants long to connect to the source of light, we long to connect to the source of love. This starts from the moment we are born and continues till the time we die. This is just the way we are emotionally wired, love is what enriches our life and makes it beautiful and worth living. Without love, we feel like life is not worth living.
Going back to Lao Tzu's quote, we should ask ourselves: "What can we do to eliminate all that is dark and negative in ourselves?" The dark and negative are emotions of fear, hate, anger, depression..etc all that is not love and that causes suffering. That suffering that we see portrayed in the news is just a reflection of the suffering people feel inside. It cannot be eliminated globally unless it is eliminated at the source that is inside you and me. As Donald Neale Walsh said so well in his books, Conversations with God,:" If you don't go within, you go without."

There are many energy healing techniques and effective therapies taught nowadays that focus on helping do that. One that has become my favorite is The Emotion Code. This therapy taught by Dr. Bradley Nelson focuses on first finding the negative emotions that are stored in our subconscious. This is done by using applied kinesiology or muscle testing. Once a specific sabotaging emotion is identified, it can be released. All the information is well explained in the book, The Emotion Code, in a way that anyone who reads the book and practices the various steps can do it for themselves.
If people prefer to ask someone for help, this is where the certified practitioners come in. I have been certified since January this year and truly enjoy doing sessions as the results have been so good and so encouraging.
Self-transformation starts when we begin to work on our self, when we decide to clean out the clutter within, tear down the walls that separate us from others.
We may start out with the desire to change the world but soon realize that it is us that we have to change. If everyone does that, the world will definitely be transformed.
